Carbon Footprint and Our Future

Why we manufacture in the US

We care about future generations and the planet, so we keep our manufacturing here in Montrose, CO. (This makes us the only sneaker factory in Colorado, by the way). By staying local, we save on trips across the ocean, whether they be by boat or airplane, and so we keep our CO2 emissions to the lowest possible.

Things you can do to help

What’s Happening Currently

The increasing carbon footprint is causing tremendous effects on the environment. Animals are changing migration patterns; plants are changing their growing activity (such as budding at different dates), as a result of rising temperatures and the effects of changes in precipitation and other weather events. 16 of the 17 warmest years on record have happened since 2001, according to NASA. Rising seas resulting from the melting of the ice caps and glaciers will soon erode shorelines and destroy ecosystems. Our beautiful coastal towns and cities could soon be forgotten. In 40 years, one quarter of the Earth's species will be close to extinction if the current climate change continues - and 40 years is not that far away! Animals won’t be able to eat and neither will humans; malnutrition will be on the rise along with malaria from the increase in mosquito numbers due to warmer temperatures. Every animal and plant has a purpose on this earth and we are slowly killing them and ourselves. If everyone did just a little bit to contribute, we could slow climate change down. Every little bit helps!

What to remember

Please shut off lights and unplug items that are not being used when you are done or when you leave your house. Try insulating your home as best as you can. Eat local and organic or, better yet, grow your own! Make new things out of old things by reusing and recycling when you can. (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!) Walking or riding a bike when the opportunity arises is not only  good for the environment, it’s also good for your health!
